Last month was the busiest September for new single-family building permits in a decade. A total of 677 permits were issued, according to the Northeast Florida Builders Association’s monthly report.
That’s just over 200 more than September 2014 and the most for the month since 2005.
Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties all saw significant increases over a year ago, with Clay’s being the most significant. The 104 permits issued there were the most for any month since June 2009.
The 255 permits issued in St. Johns County was about 100 fewer than August but still well above September 2014.
The 677 total permits in the four-county area were the second most for any month since May 2007.
